How to book your x-ray of ultrasound appointment

How to get your results

When you have your scan, the Radiographer should give you an indication of when the results will be available. This could be anything from a day or so or a few weeks, depending on the type of test you have had.

In most cases, the results will be sent electronically through to the Surgery and will be reviewed by your GP. If any further action is needed, you will receive a call from one of our Reception Team who will relay a message to you from the Doctor and advise you on whether you need further tests, a GP appointment, or if no further action needs to be taken. Whilst the Reception Team are not clinically trained, they are passing on information provided by your GP. If you have any concerns about any the tests you have had, what will happen next or the information you have been given, please either make an appointment to see the Doctor arrange to speak with them on the telephone.

If your scan has been requested by the Hospital the result will go back to the Specialist who requested it. This will then be reviewed by the Specialist and they should contact you. If you have any concerns regarding tests requested by the Hospital you can always contact the relevant Specialist’s Secretary, or you can speak to one of the Surgery’s Medical Secretaries.

When calling for your results, please call between 12 noon and 3.00 pm. The Surgery is quieter then, we can maintain confidentiality better and we will have more time to explain the message from the Doctor to you.

If your Doctor has referred you for an X-Ray or an Ultrasound Scan, in most cases the request will have been sent electronically via our Clinical System. The Hospital will contact you to arrange an appointment, but you can contact the relevant department directly to book your own appointment.

If you wish to book your own appointment, please allow 48 working hours after visiting your GP before calling to allow time for the request to be reviewed at the Hospital.
